Everyone wants to know how long the project will take. When we give you an estimate we will also give you a realistic timeline of how long it will take to complete the work.
Once you’ve gathered your ideas and decided on the right professional to hire the process typically takes approximately 8 weeks from start to finish. This includes the design stage, construction prep, and the actual construction work.
You may hear from contractors who swear up and down they can do the work for you a lot faster. Be careful! Ask yourself what kinds of corners these “professionals” are cutting in order to deliver those kinds of speeds.
If you want your bathroom to be a dream instead of a nightmare it pays to simply plan on taking the time that it takes to deliver great results.
Making the Project Work for You
One advantage of working with RJT Carpentry and Tile is the steps we take to make the entire process as convenient as possible. Sure, it may take us 8 to 10 weeks to finish the job, but we are conscious of the fact that you’re trying to live in the home at the same time. We take many, many steps to make this as painless as possible.
We start by protecting everything we can. We mask off the rooms that could be impacted by dust and debris. We ensure the pathway to the project is protected.
We bring our own bathroom because we feel there’s nothing more awkward and uncomfortable than watching a contractor use yours. Especially if the spare bathroom is all you have to work with while we’re working!
Finally, we devote the last half hour of our day to cleaning up the site. We take every scrap of trash out of your home. In this way, we can minimize the impact that our project has on your home while you continue to live there.
Why It’s So Important to Pull Permits
Pulling a permit—it’s the first thing we do on any job.
You’d be amazed to learn how many contractors simply skip this step as if it were of no consequence whatsoever. Run far and fast from any contractor who tries to tell you that a permit “isn’t really necessary.”
First, this means they’re unwilling to have a third party inspector walk around their project in order to ensure that all of the work is up to code. That’s a big red flag right there because it says there’s probably something wrong with the work they’re doing.
Second, you lose your ability to access monetary relief from a contractor’s fund that all Massachusetts licensed, insured contractors, pay into. You can get compensation if a contractor fails to finish a job, or if they make a huge mistake that damages your home in some way. But you can only do that if the contractor was licensed, insured, and if he pulled a permit.
Look, in the vast majority of our bathroom remodels we are looking at knocking out walls or making structural changes. Don’t you want to know that the job is being done correctly? Your home is the biggest investment you’ll ever make. Why take chances with it?
The Finished Product
Ahhh, the work is all done. Just make sure to let us leave the house before you dive into enjoying your new bathroom.
Just don’t blame us if you want to spend all of your free time in your new, beautiful bathroom! We promised amazing results, right?
