Initial Consultation

We begin by meeting with you to discuss your vision for your space and listen to your needs. We ask the right questions like, why do you wish to transform your space, your wish list, what do you wish to change most or what do you wish to keep.

Design Phase

Once you have decided to move forward in hiring us, we begin the design process, integrating your vision with our expertise and knowledge of the industry and products. We then present our concept’s to you. Once you have selected the design you feel comfortable with we can work together on fine tuning all the details. All decisions must be made and approved before we begin.

Planning & Moving Forward

In RJT’s agreement all expectations, deliverables, expenses, timetables, and responsibilities are clearly spelled out from start to finish. This is a very important element of our design-build approach.

Ironing Out All The Details

Having everything ordered and ready to go is key to maintaining your schedule and controlling costs. We eliminate time consuming research by proving you with all the options for materials. You then have the fun task of choosing which you prefer. Details are what make the project successful.

We Prepare a Schedule

Before work begins, you’ll know exactly what is going to happen week by week and day by day. We schedule your project with our entire team in advance, so there are no gaps in the schedule.

Weekly Team Meetings

It is important that you stay involved throughout your project so we keep communication going. We hold team weekly meetings to review our progress and answer any questions you may have.

Protecting Your Space

We do everything we can to keep our construction area from disrupting the rest of your home. We protect your floors, partition off our workspace and sweep up every night before we go home.

We Meet Our Deadline

We are able to stay true to our word and achieve our deadlines because everything has been carefully planned in advance, you’ll know exactly when you can begin using your new space.

It’s the final stretch, about to move into your new space, and it’s finally time for the final walk-through inspection. We take our time in going over every final detail, create a punch list if needed to complete the work and hand it over to you to enjoy.

Everyone wants to know how long the project will take. When we give you an estimate we will also give you a realistic timeline of how long it will take to complete the work.

Once you’ve gathered your ideas and decided on the right design, it typically takes 8-10 weeks from start to finish. This includes the design stage, construction prep, and the actual construction work.

You may hear from contractors who swear up and down they can do the work for you a lot faster. Be careful! Ask yourself what kinds of corners these “professionals” are cutting in order to deliver those kinds of speeds.

If you want your project to be a dream instead of a nightmare it pays to simply plan on taking the time that it takes to deliver great results.

Why It’s So Important to Pull Permits

Pulling a permit is the first thing we do before we begin any project.

Remodeling jobs which are not up to code render your home unsafe. Working with a contractor who will not pull permits is one of the fastest ways to ruin your home, which is not only your biggest investment but your place of safety and security.

You’d be amazed to learn how many competitors do not pull permits.

Run far and fast from any contractor who tries to tell you that a permit “isn’t really necessary.”

First, the work is not getting a full inspection from a qualified third party. This means they’re unwilling to have a third party inspector walk around their project in order to ensure that all of the work is up to code. That’s a big red flag right there because it says there’s probably something wrong with the work they’re doing. Contractors who don’t pull permits are almost certainly cutting corners. We’ve seen more botched jobs than we can count.

Second, by making sure the contractor pulls a permit, it protects you as well. Every licensed and insured contractor pays into a guaranteed fund. This means you can recoup some of your money if something goes wrong, but only if that contractor is licensed, is insured, and has pulled a permit. By not pulling a permit you lose your ability to access the monetary relief. You can get compensation if a contractor fails to finish a job, or if they make a huge mistake that damages your home in some way.

The vast majority of our remodels require knocking out walls or making structural changes. Don’t you want peace of mind knowing that the job is being done correctly? Your home is one of the largest investments you’ll ever make. Why take chances with it?

Prepping for Your Project

One advantage of working with RJT Carpentry and Tile is the steps we take to make the entire process as convenient as possible. It may take 8 to 10 weeks to finish the project, and we are conscious of the fact that you’re trying to live in the home at the same time.

We take many steps to make this as painless as possible. We spend the first day of any project protecting everything we can. Then we'll mask off the rooms that could be impacted by dust and debris. We always ensure the pathway to the project is protected.

We bring a portable toilet because we feel there’s nothing more awkward and uncomfortable than watching a contractor use yours. Especially if the spare bathroom is all you have to work with while we’re working!

Finally, we devote the last half hour of our day to cleaning up the site. We take every scrap of trash out of your home. In this way, we can minimize the impact that our project has on your home while you continue to live there.

We are adamant about keeping a clean job site.

We never, ever leave trash on site.

The Finished Product

Ahhh, the work is finally complete!

You’ll be absolutely amazed at the results and the transformation that has taken place.

Of course, before we go we’ll complete your final clean-up and check in with you to make sure you are 100% satisfied.

Just make sure to let us leave the house before you dive into enjoying your new bathroom!
